• Obtain documents in the form of superbills, charge tickets or other documents via secure FTP, Electronic Health Record or document management system

• Capture the date of service, billing provider, referring provider, place of service, admission date, CPT/procedure codes, ICD-10, number of units, and modifiers

• Any items needing clarification are escalated so claims get sent quickly and cleanly

• If not using our electronic health record, we can import charges directly from your EHR, which are reviewed for accuracy prior to billing

The purpose of charge audit’s activity is to check the accuracy of the charge capture procedure in the office, specifically whether the practice is billing for all services that were performed. The audit will reconcile the actual services performed and documented in the medical record with the patient account to identify unbilled services, services billed with the wrong procedure code and charges billed for services not performed. The accuracy of diagnosis coding will also be audited.
